Welcome to Peace'In'It Counseling!

At Peace’In’It Counseling, Prell Gross, LPC, and Petra Gross, LPC, provide virtual counseling services to clients across Virginia, with Prell also licensed to serve clients in Washington, DC. Founded in 2021, the practice grew from a shared vision that began nearly a decade earlier when Prell and Petra met in graduate school at Radford University. They dreamed of creating a person-centered counseling space where individuals, especially those from minority backgrounds, could feel truly respected, understood, and supported.

Where You Can Be Yourself

Many people hesitate to seek counseling because they fear they won’t connect with their therapist. At Peace’In’It Counseling, connection is at the heart of everything Prell and Petra do. They welcome clients from all walks of life who are ready to work through challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, cultural or identity conflicts, relationship struggles, and major life transitions. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by work, parenting, or personal expectations, therapy here is a space to rediscover your balance and move forward with clarity.

Therapeutic Approaches That Meet You Where You Are

Peace’In’It Counseling uses evidence-based methods with genuine empathy and collaboration. Virginia and Washington, DC, telehealth sessions may include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients find meaning and direction even in difficult circumstances.
  • Rogerian/Person-Centered Therapy to create a nonjudgmental space for self-exploration and growth.
  • Reality Therapy to focus on practical choices and personal responsibility.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Techniques (DBT) to build skills for emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Mindfulness Practices to help calm the mind and practice present-moment awareness.

Each session is shaped around the client’s individual goals, whether that’s coping with anxiety, strengthening relationships, or cultivating personal growth.

Committed to Cultural Competence and Community Impact

Prell and Petra’s professional work extends beyond the therapy room. Both are Board Approved Supervisors in Virginia and bring extensive training in suicide prevention and trauma-informed care. Once completed, we will set you up with an account within 48 hours and you'll receive an email with more info about our policies, practices, and procedures. At that time, you will also gain access to our calendars in order to set-up a FREE consult with a licensed counselor where you will get the opportunity to meet your clinician, ask questions, and confirm that it's a good fit for you. If telehealth services prove to be an appropriate option for you, you'll then be able to schedule a clinical assessment and begin treatment. We accept commercial insurances in VA with Anthem and /or Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates, Cigna, Aetna, and Sentara. We also accept individuals willing to pay out of pocket. In DC, we can accept individuals with commercial Carefirst or Cigna insurances. We can also support individuals who pay out of pocket.

WHY TELEHEALTH?

Telehealth services are a convenient and flexible option for services without having to rearrange and adjust your entire schedule. Our clients love the fact that services can be offered from the comfort of their own home, office, car, and/or any other private and secure location. With telehealth services, we have the advantage of being able to utilize screenshare in real-time to pull up resources such as diagnosis information, educational content, articles, videos, and/or worksheets we think you'll find helpful. This improves understanding in real-time and also cuts back on the need for independent therapeutic homework assignments between sessions. Individuals active in services can also correspond with your clinician asynchronously between sessions, when needed, and receive support. You'll also be able to receive, review, complete and sign documents sent securely to your phone or email without ever needing to print. The bottomline is, telehealth services offer you the convenience of working through tough issues in the environment most comfortable for you and can be received when it's convenient for you without the cost and hassles of traveling to and from an office.

Better Care

The Peace'In'It Counseling staff are dedicated to delivering high-quality care using evidence-based practices that are catered to and personalized for each individual receiving treatment.

Quality Services

Each clinician with Peace'In'It Counseling is licensed by their respective state's board of counseling and must complete at least 20 hours of continuing education courses every year in each of the following: ethics, trauma, and best-practices with an at-risk population. Our clinicians are well-trained and very knowledgeable and guided by some of the best leaders in the field of counseling.

Leadership

The Peace'in'It Counseling leadership team is composed of clinicians themselves who have provided services to children, adolescents, young adults/college students, adults, seniors, families & blended-families. They have worked for both public and private agencies in a variety of settings such as homes, schools, HBCU's, communities, offices, and via telehealth. In addition to being clinicians, the entire leadership team are also board-approved supervisors for residents in counseling, meaning the state not only trusts their direct care but their ability to train new clients to be sound clinicians at full licensure. The leadership team has directly improved the lives of hundreds of individuals and provided counseling services for more than a combined 20,000 hours and almost 3 decades of supporting others in a clinical format. Members of our leadership team are often contracted with partner agencies to support their staff and families, complete training for nonprofits, and sit on or head the boards of varying community initiatives they're passionate about. Helping people isn't just their career but an extension of themselves as people.

Personalized Approach to Treatment

Each individual in care will identify their own goals for services and collaborate with their clinician to formalize those goals for treatment. As progress is made and goals are achieved, goals will evolve with the person throughout their time in services to show measurable growth. Our treatment plans follow a person-centric model and are designed using the SMART method (simple, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-relative).
